'18-year-old' Kim Dong-jun, a splendid achievement of speed silver medal at the Sports Climbing Youth World Championships

Kim Dong-joon (18, North Chungcheong Province Tag climbing) has emerged as a promising sports climbing player.

At the 2023 International Sports Climbing Federation (IFSC) Seoul Sports Climbing Youth World Championships held at the Mountain Culture Experience Center in Seoul on the 26th, Kim Dong-joon scored 9.88 in the men's U18 final and won the silver medal.

In addition, Kazuki Tani (Japan) came in third, followed by Ji Sung-jin at 11th and Song Hyun-woo at 12th.

After the game, Kim Dong-joon said, "I am grateful to coach Son Min, and I am grateful to my parents for continuing to support me through the Korea Mountain Federation. He also added, "We focused on the top part of the speed wall."

The competition, which featured a large number of 765 athletes (596 athletes, 169 coaches and coaches) from 45 countries around the world, is an international competition to discover promising sports climbing prospects. Hosted by the Korea Mountain Federation and IFSC, Seoul Metropolitan Government participated as a sponsor.

The competition is divided into U20 (aged 18-19), U18 (aged 16-17), and U16 (aged 14-15) categories for men's and women's lead, bouldering, and speed events, with a total of 10 days left.
